Built an art-directable fluid system for Britannia, combining LiquiGen, Houdini, and Blender to support extensive creative iteration around the film's hero milk pour.

I created the fluid work for Britannia Winkin' Cow: one hero milk-pour setup, one supporting setup, and the model for the hero product bottle. Because the pour was a central visual beat rather than background effects work, its shape, timing, and relationship to the surrounding characters needed to remain directly art-directable.

Directing fluid across three tools

No single application offered the right balance of fluid detail, control, and final rendering for this production. I used LiquiGen to generate the source particles, Houdini to reshape and direct their motion, and Blender to develop the shaders and final rendered appearance.

Making iteration part of the system

Fluid simulation is normally expensive to redirect after each creative change. The hybrid setup was designed so feedback could be absorbed without restarting the entire process blindly. It supported more than twenty versions of the hero pour while preserving control over the silhouette and movement that mattered on screen.

The complete fluid assignment, including the supporting setup and product bottle, was delivered over approximately two weeks. More importantly, the final workflow turned a difficult simulation into something the production could continue to shape through review.
